Meet the Team
Stefania Sigurdsson, LPC
Stef believes that individuals who seek help when they are struggling demonstrate wisdom, courage, determination, and, most importantly, the belief that things can get better. She strives to get to know her clients as individuals and collaborates with them to set goals that can improve their mental health and overall well-being. Stef accepts and respects her clients without judgment, treats their concerns with compassion, and prioritizes their safety. She practices from the premise that when individuals feel supported and are equipped with the right skills, they will be able to draw on their inner strengths to handle life’s challenges.
Trained in clinical mental health, Stef has extensive experience working with a range of issues including trauma, addiction, anxiety, depression, and co-occurring disorders. It often takes an integration of evidence-based treatment methods, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), with coping skills development and a strengths-based orientation to make progress toward the desired outcome. Stef is trained in EMDR.
Stef holds a B.A. from Fordham University and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Fairfield University. As a veteran with more than 13 years of active duty service, Stef understands the effort it sometimes takes to translate military experiences, culture, and jargon to civilians. She is also familiar with issues related to exploring and making career changes.
