Intensive Outpatient Programs

FOR TEENS AND ADULTS STRUGGLING WITH MENTAL HEALTH AND ADDICTION

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) in Connecticut

Flexible, Insurance-Covered Treatment for Teens and Adults Struggling with Mental Health & Addiction

If you or someone you love is struggling with mental health challenges or substance use, intensive outpatient care may be the right level of support — without putting your life on hold.

At Elevate Health and Wellness in Westport, CT, our Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs) provide structured, clinically-supervised treatment for a few hours a day, a few days a week — so you can stay connected to work, school, and family while getting the focused care you need.

Each program meets 3 hours a day, 3 days per week, and includes intensive group therapy, individual support, and close monitoring by our Medical Director and licensed treatment team. Upon graduating from IOP, clients can continue care with their therapist on an individual basis — because recovery doesn’t end at discharge.

All programs are in-network with most major insurance plans. We currently offer three IOP tracks to meet you where you are:

  • Adult Substance Use (Dual Diagnosis) IOP
  • Adult Mental Health IOP
  • Teen Mental Health IOP

Adult Substance Use & Dual Diagnosis IOP
(In-Person | Westport, CT)

Focused on individuals working toward sobriety while addressing underlying mental health conditions. Treatment emphasizes relapse prevention, behavioral change, and long-term recovery planning.

When clinically appropriate, clients may be evaluated for outpatient detox with medical oversight, allowing for a safe and structured transition into treatment without requiring inpatient admission.

The Adult IOP meets in-person, 3 hours per day, 3 days per week, in Westport, CT. Sessions are held Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 12pm – 3pm. All insurances accepted. For more information, click here.

Adolescent Mental Health IOP
(In-Person | Westport, CT)

Designed specifically for teens struggling with anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, and other mental health concerns. Testimonials

Not even sure where to start. The IOP program was my first introduction and I couldn’t be happier with the professionalism and courtesy of everyone I met. I was shown a level of respect that I didn’t expect. After leaving the program I have continued to see one of the therapists on a weekly basis for over one year and will continue as long as possible. They all have a hand in my recovery and I owe them a lot.

I am grateful I found Dr. Elsamra, and honestly, the whole team at Elevate Health. I was desperate for help for quite some-time, and after my experience at two other facilities, I was running out of hope. After my first consultation with Dr. Elsamra, I felt I had found the help I had been searching for. The team produced a well-rounded treatment plan to address several elements in my life, to give me the components I needed to move forward and flourish. Within Elevate Health I am able to not only meet with Dr. Elsamra, but also an individual therapist, a family/marriage counselor, and a small support group. I have found Dr. Elsamra and the team he put together to be thorough, thoughtful, informative, and discreet. Working with an entire team that can collaborate with each other has been essential to my recovery, and I am thankful for each of them.

Exceptional doctors and caring staff. I could not be more impressed with the work they do & the dedication they show to helping their patients. Dr. Elsamra is one of the most respected doctors in his field, and he absolutely deserves that level of respect. He is very knowledgeable and does not give up, though he lets patients slip until they take responsibility for their own health and future. He is also brutally honest when he needs to be. I’m not sure if my daughter’s father would be here today if it wasn’t for Dr. Elsamra. I also have tremendous appreciation for the other doctors and staff, because they have helped me find strength, clarity, and stability through a very challenging time in my life. Dr. Elsamra and the doctors at Elevate are also capable of treating patients with very complicated and challenging mental health issues, including dual-diagnosis disorders. Though they are very busy, their team is excellent & worth the wait.

Dr. Elsamra is an awesome Doctor. He really listens and understands my struggles and prescribes meds that for the first time, have really carried me in a better position than ever. He is knowledgeable about all medications and asks me about my life and offers practical solutions to what I sometimes feel are impossible problems!

No hesitations on him as your psychiatrist.

I mean, seriously, the staff and the whole program are like the real deal. They’ve got this crazy, genuine care for every client that just hits different. My therapist? That superhero went above and beyond, always ready to swoop in when things got rough. In many ways, those Elevate peeps, they practically held me together – saved my life, I’m not even kidding. As for the program itself, they’ve got this killer balance. Trauma processing, learning the ropes, building skills, and getting grounded – it’s all part of the game. Elevate doesn’t mess around; they go full-on holistic. The group facilitators, oh honey, they’re the real MVPs. I’m already missing their vibes. At Elevate, you can be you, even on the crappiest days. It’s a place where raw honesty meets genuine kindness, no judgment, just love. These folks, they’ve got your back during those transition times. Need resources? They’ve got you covered. And let me tell you, the people you meet here, they’re pure gems. Everyone’s got their story, and yet, there’s always someone who gets it. We laughed, we grew, and we did it together. You know what I realized? Life can be a whole lot more vibrant than we ever imagined. I started healing, y’all, and it’s a game-changer. So, if you’re considering taking that plunge, finding that extra support, I’m here to tell you, go for it, honey! It’s worth it, I pinky promise.

Elevate has been 100% integral to getting my life back on track during the past 7 months after I experienced a series of traumatic events (coupled with mental health and substance abuse issues) that literally brought me to my knees. I joined Elevate’s substance-abuse focused IOP program just 2 days after my intake in March 2023. What I found were 3 amazing, supportive, non-judgmental counselors. Polly, Steph and Susan facilitated a day each week. Each counselor brought her own knowledge, background, perspective, and insights to the group which was extremely helpful. Dr. Elsamra was extremely kind and took the time to try to understand my unique story and to figure out how he could best help me. He prescribed me meds to detox at home as well as a couple of meds he felt would be useful to support my healing. Dr. Elsamra isn’t afraid to prescribe meds that could be helpful, but he also doesn’t over-prescribe. He seems to look for the sweet spot for each client, looking for the optimal mix of maximally safe and effective meds for each individual, depending on their unique needs. I also love that Dr. Elsamra sits in on group from time to time to get to know the members. Thank you Elevate, from the bottom of my heart!
